Google is sending a press release by email to ORKUT users as they are shutting down Orkut on 30 September 2014.
Orkut was launched in 2004 (my first year of B.tech.), a Google’s version of Facebook. And soon it became one of the popular website of India and Brazil. However, Facebook eclipsed it in the rest of the Western World. Google say that the growth in YouTube and Google+ means that Orkut is no longer needed.
